Sue Gavey, Anita Mortimer and Nathaniel Vickers

August 14, 2012

Three artists working in different media come together for a joint exhibition.

Cows by Sue Gavey

Sue Gavey’s love for horses from a very early age has been the main inspiration for her art. Working in gouache initially, she made a transition into oils when she started to accept commissions to paint portraits.  “I enjoyed the freedom of being able to layer paints and glazes and importantly, correct mistakes! I have now discovered acrylics and palette knives and have developed a new style with my equestrian paintings; keeping the paintings loose and textured is quite an adventure.”

Lion by Anita Mortimer

Anita Mortimer’s work has been displayed throughout the county of Lincolnshire.  She recently turned professional and is a member of Art on the Map.  Gallery regulars will have seen  her work in the Performing Arts exhibition and our very recent Summer Show.  She has an infectious enthusiasm for all art although she says, “My preferred media are pastels, pencils and colouring pencils.  I’m drawn to wildlife but enjoy the challenge of portraits.” As well as producing art for display she undertakes commissions of family pets.

The Studio by Nathaniel Vickers

Lincolnshire born photographer, Nathaniel Vickers has experimented with different media, such as clays, paint, pencil and wood but the medium that has truly held his attention is photography.  He loves the excitement of discovering depth in photography.  “Although I like to photograph still life and people, wildlife is a particular challenge that I cannot resist; it allows me to be creative in whole new way.”  Nathaniel is available for photographing weddings, social events, family members/groups, and pet portraits.

The exhibition is open 10 am – 4 pm  from 13 August until Sat 18 August.
