Thanks to the Carre Gallery, Trust and staff volunteers I have a second opportunity to exhibit my work in watercolours.  Although it was my original intention to keep the work of the local vicinity there were a number of challenges that I found were too tasty to pass up.

After 3,000 easel hours covering 36 square metres of surface, the general overview has turned out to represent Bricks, Mortar, Figures and Water.

It has been a long haul to master watercolouring to achieve the richness of oils and the detailing that a photograph provides.  From being a pencil demon since 1943 (a three-year old urchin with his first sketch on the bedroom wall) using anything to draw with on whatever surface was available to be used.  Since school days

I have intensified my application with just the pigments and brushes available.  It can be said that my eventual work is developed from an ordinary child’s paint box.

The results achieved can only be assessed by the eye of the beholder, and it is my hope that I have done justice to the opportunities that Sleaford and the Lincolnshire folk have provided.
