Peter Hayward
November 19, 2013
Peter Hayward returns to Carre Gallery with an exhibition of figurative paintings in oils, watercolours and gouache with the main emphasis being landscapes, for which he is well-known.
Peter was brought up in North Hertfordshire and went to art school at 16, firstly in St Albans and subsequently Luton and Goldsmiths College in London where he studied painting and stone carving.
He later moved to Lincolnshire in 1970 to become Head of Art at what was then the Sleaford County Secondary School and has remained in the county since.
“I have always drawn and painted, with a preference for landscape and direct observation. I try to depict atmospheric distance and seem increasingly to be trying to express a sense of serenity in my pictures.”
The exhibition is open Monday to Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm until 30 November.
