St George’s Academy – Photography Showcase

April 12, 2016

Somersby_500A very high-quality exhibition of photography from students at St George’s Academy in Sleaford.  The work is produced by students aged 17 to 19 studying towards their BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Art and Design-Photography.

EllingworthBlandRowett_500

It is a two-year course in which they have 4 hours lesson/contact time. They  work with Cannon EOS 60D cameras and a variety of telephoto and macro lenses. They have studied different areas of photography such as advertising, product, food, animals, portraits, street and sports. They have had the opportunity to work in both studios and out on locations including London and Twycross zoo. Much of the work on display has been taken from their coursework; equally, some students have produced something completely new especially for the exhibition choosing subjects and techniques they have a particular interest in.

Some students are applying for Licenciateship of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS) on successful completion of the course in July.  We wish them luck, but judging by the quality of this exhibition they won’t need it.
