Lind Anso, Chairman of AOTM, says, “2013 was a good year for Art on the Map, the association of Lincolnshire artists and craft makers, whose members were pleased to open their studios to the public.  We look forward to 2014 being an even better year. The main event, Open Studios Week, takes place from 3rd – 11th May this year.”

“Art on the Map is independent of any grants or subsidies. It exists to support the work of the creative arts at ground level, hands-on in the studio. The Open Studios week is previewed by this “taster” exhibition at Carre Gallery designed to whet the appetite of art lovers. We do hope people will take the opportunity to see what is on offer.”

In 1999 artists and craft-makers of Lincolnshire combined to put their studios and workshops ‘on the map’. Little did they think that their vision would translate into the highly successful open studio scheme that we now have in the county.

Lincolnshire Open Studios, also known as “Art on the Map” (AOTM), provides opportunities for residents and tourists in the county to see close-up the products of many high quality Lincolnshire artists and craft-makers. It also gives visitors the opportunity to meet the members in their place of work and to view how it all comes together.

‘Art on the Map’ Members Exhibition

This two-week ‘taster’ exhibition features ‘Art on the Map’ members in the Fens and Vales and runs just prior to the Lincolnshire Open Studios week (05 May – 13 May) when most members will open their studios to the public.  The taster exhibition is an ideal opportunity to see a little of each artist’s excellent work and be inspired to visit their studios to see more.

Exhibition co-coordinator Lind Anso says, “People often have the perception that artists do not like being disturbed.  We want the public to know that our members are happy to receive visitors and discuss their work.  We like to share our enthusiasm for art.”

There is an eclectic mix of styles and media including ceramics, paintings, drawings, glass, printing, photography and textiles. Exhibiting artists are Lind Anso, Martin Cameron, Joan Dowling, Jess Fuller, Fiona Gurney, Lyn Jenkins, Steve Leaning, Geoff Loveridge, Lyn Lovitt, Anita Mortimer, Liz Pearson, Louise Stebbing, John Sutton and Helen Webber.
