The Carre Gallery Autumn Exhibition 2018

Candlesby_550

This year’s autumn exhibition has attracted a high number of abstract artworks in a large array of different sizes and styles. We have ceramics, photography, textiles, and a variety of different ‘painted’ media from the simple to the complex.

LDavies_Catastrophe_550Gallery director Martin Cameron says, “As a change from our usual portrait competition we decided to go with the Abstract theme this year. We are very encouraged by the response from artists and have an exhibition of over forty pieces. I think the quality of the work is superb and I highly recommend a visit to the gallery. I am glad that I don’t have to choose a winner; there are many contenders. We are right to be proud of Lincolnshire artists.”

AHuntley_Untitled_550Exhibitors: Crissy Perez, Alan Huntley, Anne Dolan, Martin Cameron, Celia Slack, Carol Bratley, Sam Bratley, Justin Cooper, Laura Davies, Ronald Feeney, Anne Hall, Barbara Leaning, Steve Leaning, Mark Nightingale, Marianne Nixey, Elaine O’Donnell, Bill Pepper, Mona Storey, Kim Wooldridge.

This post will be updated when the winning artwork is announced.

The exhibition is open from 10 am – 4 pm every day (except Sunday) until 29 September 2018.

Carre Gallery currently has a display of images created under the rules of Pro Loco.

Pro Loco roughly translates to ‘in favour of the place’.  Local artists chose locations in our place, Sleaford, and created their pictures in one day.  We invite visitors to vote for their favourite.

Participants in our first Pro Loco were Angie Fahy, Mike Weston, Pat Hoyland, Margaret Chamberlain, Annie Harrison, Bob Bradley.

Also on display is a mix of work from various Lincolnshire artists in an open exhibition with cards, books and various small items for sale.

The exhibition is open from 10 am – 4 pm every day except Sunday until Sat 01 September.

This year’s guest artists are Ian Cox and Joan Lawton who are creating a painting on a large 12ft x 6ft panel in the main gallery room.  This will develop during the exhibition and guests are invited to visit more than once to see how it develops.  For the time being, above is an image of work in progress showing the basic elements in place.  Time will reveal the full story of the image.  Our artists will be very happy to discuss this project with you when you visit.  More images will be posted here as the work progresses.

HubWriters_550
