Coventry Cathedral by Dean William Birch

Printers Inc is an intaglio printing group meeting monthly at the National Centre for Craft and Design in Sleaford. The exhibition includes a retrospective of print works by group member Dean William Birch, also exhibiting current work.

Intaglio is a printing process where the design is cut into a plate and then passed through a heavy mangle printing press. It is rare within Printers Inc for a plate to be used to produce a series of identical images. Each member of the group is an artist who can use a variety of other techniques with an intaglio process to develop their final piece. These techniques may be print-based or include other media and craft. The combination of techniques more frequently results in each print being individual and non-replicable, although the same base plate might be used.

The exhibition is open 10 am – 4 pm from 25 August until 06 September.  (Closed on Sundays.)
